Public Hearing!

Posted on: 2007-01-09
ATTENTION MYRTLE TRACERS!!!!

PUBLIC HEARING
COUNTY COURT HOUSE
TUESDAY, JANUARY 16, 2007

By now we are sure that you are aware of the Public Hearing that will be held on Tuesday, January 16, regarding the gates on Myrtle Trace Drive. This is a serious situation and we need your help. If we want to maintain our wonderful community as it has been for many years we must control the traffic that passes through. Myrtle Trace Drive was never intended to be a thorough-fare. It is narrow, has no curbs, no drainage, and no sidewalks.

The County Council has received a recommendation from the County Engineering Staff as well as a second one from the Infrastructure and Regulation Committee to allow the gates to remain in place. However, some members of the Council have chosen to ignore those recommendations and have voted to remove the gates. If we are to keep those gates and preserve the safety of our residents we must be proactive. Please demonstrate your concern regarding this issue by attending the meeting on Tuesday, January 16, at 6:00PM on the second floor of the new Courthouse in Conway. Your MTHOA Board members appreciate your support.

In addition to attending the meeting we are also encouraging you to call or email each of the Council members and ask for their support regarding the gates. This advice has come directly from a member of the Council. Therefore we feel that it is very important so let's do a telephone and/or an email blitz!

You may e-mail the Council members by using this address: countycouncil@horrycounty.org. The telephone numbers are: Liz Gilland 248-9107, Bob Grobowski 293- 7117, Al Allen 358-3583, Kevin Hardee 756-8100, Paul Prince 756-8916, Harold Worley 249-1436, Marion Foxworth 448-0930, Michael Ryan 215-1672, Howard Barnard 602-9677, James Frazer 397-5423, Carl Schwartzkopf 347-9591.
